Public Service Announcement: False Rumors Regarding Abandoned Dogs

01/09/2025

Faulkner County Sheriff’s Office is aware of rumors circulating on social media regarding abandoned dogs within our county. These rumors originated and continue to be fueled predominantly by out of state sources who have no experience with this property. Multiple deputies have checked on the property during daytime and nighttime hours, visited with the animals, and spoken with the owner. As many of us are animal lovers and pet parents ourselves, we understand the desire to have our pets in the absolute best and most loving environment possible. While the situation may not meet the standards of excellence adopted by some pet parents, rest assured that these animals have access to fresh water, ample food, and warm shelter, including access to the house which still maintains electricity. They are being checked on daily as well.

As in many circumstances before this, we encourage citizens to not participate in rumor mills of this kind without factual evidence. Unfortunately, not everything on social media reflects the full or partial truth of situations. We also remind those commenting and posting to review the rules of our pages. Violations of these rules will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

In closing, we hope everyone is staying safe and warm. Be assured that we will continue to monitor this situation and check on the safety of the animals in question.
