Greenbrier Man dies from gunshot wound

The Faulkner County Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting at 149 East Cadron Ridge Rd. September 24th, 2014 at approximately 8:00pm.

Patrick Bauhaus called 911 saying that he had accidentally shot his friend Jeremiah Hackler, with a 22 caliber handgun. When deputies arrived on scene Jeremiah K. Hackler (22) was unconscious and not breathing. Paramedics performed CPR and rushed Mr. Hackler  to Conway Regional Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead.

Patrick Bauhaus(18) lives and works in the home as a caretaker for two elderly patients that are there for hospice care. Two other 18 year olds were also at the home during the time of the shooting. The home owner and the man that operates the hospice care center responded to the scene and all were taken into custody for questioning. The two elderly patients were also taken to Conway Regional to be check out due to the circumstances. They were not injured due to the shooting.

 While searching the home, Investigators found explosive material along with firearms in the residence and called in the Conway Fire Department Bomb Squad, Arkansas State Police, ATF, and FBI. The explosive material was turned over to the ATF and the Sheriff’s Investigators continue to work the shooting incident as a homicide.

One of the 18 year olds was released this morning after questioning.
